Definition of Love

YourDictionary defines love as a strong affection for a person or thing. The definition of love encompasses dozens of expressions of affection with varying degrees of intensity. Love includes feelings ranging from mild affection to intense sexual desire. Because love encompasses such a broad range of emotion, and may be related to so many people, places and things, the definition of love is unusually broad.

The world "love" comes to us from the Middle English word luf, derived from the Old English word "lufu." This is akin to Old High German, "luba," and another Old English word, lēof, which means ‘dear’. Yet another word related to love, "lubere" or "libere," comes to us from the Romans. This Latin word means 'to please'. In all words related to the word love, roots relating to dear, pleasing, and cherished may be found, hinting at the deeper transcendent meaning of the modern word.

Most people think of the definition of love as a strong romantic attachment between two people, often intermingled with sexual desire and attraction. Throughout history, people defined love more broadly, encompassing many relationships. These forms of love and affection hold true today, although may not be the first definition that comes to mind when one hears the word. For example:

* Love among family members; familial love, or love based on kinship ties
* A mother’s love for her offspring
* Love of neighbor, based on the Christian teaching of expressing concern and charity for all people
* Love of country, or patriotism
* Love of God, or expressive love for a deity or deities

Nearly all religions and cultures use precise language to define love. Most languages use various words to express levels of emotion, kinship, or affection. Ancient Greek, for example, uses many words to define precise levels of emotion. “Agape” means love in modern day Greek, but in ancient times referred to a pure love without sexual connotations. “Eros” includes passionate love full of desire and longing. “Philia”, mentioned by Aristotle, meant a dispassionate, virtuous and unselfish love. “Xenia” includes hospitality, and refers to a type of love most would consider charity or giving.

Our modern language uses the word love almost too frequently. We say “I love you” to our spouses, but say “I love chocolate ice cream!” to a friend to express a much less intense feeling.

Some people define love not by a feeling, but by actions. In this definition, love isn’t what you say – it’s what you do. Love would then be a verb, expressed in unselfish actions and deeds.

Quote By The Broken Heart

Great quote by a broken heart.
I am not down as you left me.
In fact I am very excited thinking that if,
I was so happy with the wrong one;
how great I will feel when I get the right one!

Awww

A girl in love asked her boyfriend.
Girl (g): Tell me... whom do you love most in this world?
Boy (b): You, of course!
(g): In your heart, what am I to you?
(b): The boy thought for a moment and looked intently in her
eyes and said,
"You are my rib. In the Holy Book, it was said that God
saw that Adam was lonely, during his sleep;
God took one of Adam's rib and created Eve. Every man
has
been searching for his missing rib, only when you find the
woman of your life; you'll no longer feel the lingering
ache in your heart." ...
After their wedding, the couple had a sweet and happy life for a while.
However, the youthful couple began to drift apart due to the busy
Schedule of life and the never-ending worries of daily problems...their
life became mundane. All the challenges posed by the harsh realities of
life began to gnaw away their dreams and love for each other. The
couple
began to have more quarrels and each quarrel became more heated.
One day, after the quarrel, the girl ran out of the house. At the
opposite side of the road, she shouted, "You don't love me!" The boy
hated her childishness and out of impulse, retorted, "Maybe, it was a
mistake for us to be together! You were never my missing rib!"
Suddenly, she turned quiet and stood there for a long while. He
regretted what he said but words spoken are like thrown away water, you
can never take it back. With tears, she went home to pack her things
and
was determined in breaking-up.
Before she left the house, "If I'm really not your missing rib, please
let me go. She continued, "It is less painful this way... let us go on
our separate ways and search for our own partners..."
Five years went by...
He never remarried but he had tried to find out about her life
indirectly. She had left the country and back. She had married a
foreigner and divorced..... He felt anguished that she never waited for
him.
In the dark and lonely night, he lit his cigarette and felt the
lingering ache in his heart. He couldn't bring himself to admit that he
was missing her.
One day, they finally met at the airport, a place where there were many
reunions and good-byes. He was going away on a business trip.
She was standing there alone, with just the security door separating
them. She smiled at him gently.
(b): How are you?
(g): I'm fine. How about you? Have you found your missing
rib?
(b): No.
(g): I'll be flying to New York in the next flight.
(b): I'll be back in 2 weeks time. Give me a call when you
are back...You know my number...nothing has changed.
With a smile, she turned around and waved good-bye.
Good-bye...
One week later, he heard of her death. She had perished in New York. In
the event that shocked the world. Midnight, once again, he lit his
cigarette and like before, he felt the lingering ache in his heart. He
finally knew, she was the missing rib that he had carelessly broken.
Sometimes, people say things out of moments of fury. Most often than
not, the outcome could be disastrous and detrimental.
We vent our frustrations 99% at our loved ones and even though we know
that we ought to "think twice and act wisely", it's often easier said
than done.
Things happen each day, many of which are beyond our control.
Let us treasure every moment and everyone in our lives. Tomorrow may
never come; give and accept what you have today.

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that
she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must
be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the
place where love resides."

Story Of Grace Charlton

Love in life has not treated me well recently. I am currently a college student and my boyfriend dumped me about a month and a half ago. We had been dating for almost five years (all of high school) and we had been living together for almost a year. Everything was perfectly fine. We would talk about getting married and having kids and all of our lives together. Then one day, out of the blue, he dumped me. He claimed that he had not been happy with me for several months, although I doubted this as we seemed to be really happy. I could deal with that though. What I couldn't deal with was when I found out the real reason he left me a few days later.

He had met another girl at work and left me to be with her. They had been talking about it during the week before he left me. I found a note that was laying in our apartment from her (I had not yet moved out). She talked about what an idiot I was and how she agrees that he should be with her. After we broke up, he had sworn up and down that he wasn't interested in her and that's not why he left me. But he lied.

I didn't understand how he could so easily throw me away and forget me after five years, and I still don't. I don't understand how he can not care about how badly it hurt me and well, just not care in general.

I lost my faith in love. The thought of going out and finding someone else really terrifies me, and I don't really believe in any truly love anymore anyway. The only place I've ever seen it is in movies and books. I thought I had it, but I was wrong.

It hurts so bad to think of him moving on with her. Of him being with her. While I feel like I've done a good job of dealing with it, I'm still so angry. I don't miss him anymore, nor do I love him or ever want him back. But I am so overwhelmingly angry and I don't know how to express it, to get it out. I wish that I could confront him about how much he hurt me, but I know he wouldn't care and that would just hurt me all over again. I truly feel hate when I think of him, and I don't like that feeling. I try to be a very nice and happy person, but now it feels like I have a big black hole inside me, consuming me.

I've never felt any sort of anger or hatred to this degree, and I am looking for a good source for it. If I could find a way to deal with that, I would be okay. But I haven't found that yet. If you ask me, love is a joke and not to be trusted. I would love to believe differently, as I used to be a hopeless romantic, but I just can't.

Missing Treasure

The missing treasure of this sinking vessel
On the seafloor, where it would nestle
Against the base for years it'd lay
Patiently waiting for that special day
When I would come to claim my prize
Hoping the chest to my surprise
Would hold the heart that I've been missing
The talks, the laughs, the hugs, the kissing
That day has come and now I'll find
What lies ahead, no longer behind
I've searched through darkness, to the deepest sea
And found that chest staring back at me
What lies inside, I do not know
Unlock the latch and open slow
I peek within, with nerves I'm shaking
The prize inside could stop the aching
Cause within the chest that I've searched for
I found the heart and even more
The talks, the laughs, they all were there
The hugs, the kisses, for me to share
The most beautiful treasure I've finally seized
Did not imagine I could be so pleased
I searched so long through the deep sea blue
I love you baby, my prize is you.

A Heart Remembers

A memory burned within, from a heartfelt second long ago
a moment... one single moment, that only a heart can remember
a fleeting thought, gone astray, but the feeling looms inside you
a boy and a girl... so far apart, so long the days
that it took their hearts to remind them...
how fortunate they are, that a heart...
can return a fleeting thought,
one single moment, or a memory burned within...
so they can now live as one
as only inside true love, can such a past remain
until... it's found again

Unsaid

Sometimes
lips are sealed
tongue is tied
sometimes
hands can't reach
the feelings are locked

Into these eyes
read the words unsaid
the feelings not laid
plunge deeply into my heart
every time
love is there
love is there...

Why Do Girls Love Chocolate SO MUCH?

Do you love chocolate? Of course you do! 99% of girls love chocolate. Did you know that there is a scientific reason for all of this? It’s true. Chocolate contains many mood-enhancing chemicals. One of those chemicals, phenylethylamine, is actually the very same chemical that your brain releases when you fall in love. This is why chocolate increases your heart rate and gives you a certain gush of excitement when you eat it.
Back when chocolate was first being discovered, it was only consumed as a beverage. And also, that beverage was mostly consumed by men. Over the years, chocolate became a solid food and women and children were soon allowed to consume it, as well.
Another reason scientists say that women crave chocolate so much is because they are often under the assumption that this is something that they’re not allowed to have. Obviously, too much chocolate can cause a girl to gain weight. But because girls have told themselves that this food is forbidden, this does nothing but enhance a girl’s craving for it.
Of course there are also very practical reasons for loving chocolate that have nothing to do with science. I mean, it smells great, melts in your mouth, and tastes like heaven. Did you know that people in the United States have reported to craving chocolate more than anything else? So how about you…do you crave chocolate?

Why Gals Love Teddy Bears??

I am sure lots of girls can identify with this. We just love cuddly bears. Our parents/families buy them for us as babies and decades later, we still never grow out of them.

I think I am doing well. I have narrowed mine down to just two. One was won for me by a friend, when we went to a Fun Fair “Sunshine Bear” and the other is close to my computer a little “Paddington Bear” – a Valentine gift because I was born in Paddington.

So, why do girls still love these Cuddly Bears?

1) Teddy bears are soft, cuddly and look harmless.
2) In a way, they remind us of times in our lives when we felt secure, simply by holding them close. (as little girls).
3) Every woman still has a little girl inside of them.
4) They are lovely and adorable to look at.
5) They don’t complain, tell you off or get on your nerves.
6) They bring a certain warmth to a room. Imagine a teenagers room with 10 teddy bears in view.
7) They also remind us of the Joy of being loved.

Teddy Bear Quotes

“Teddy bears don’t need hearts as they are already stuffed with love”

“A bedroom without a teddy is like a face without a smile “

“In a world where everyone seems to be larger and louder than yourself ,it is very comforting to have a small, quiet companion”..

Our Sonnet

Sweet Lady, song of my heart,
Hold my hand, as this journey we start.
Lift me up in spirit of joy and gladness;
And shield my soul from heartbreak and sadness.
Steadfast, honest and true;
Your partner is here and will forever love you.

It is my prayer that I will always be;
The one who brings you joy and sets your spirit free.
With my love I’ll cover you and warm your soul with mine;
Give you pleasures – like none you will find.
Your Sweet Lady, song of your heart;
Will love you forever, together or apart.

So hear me Sweet Lady, and know in your soul;
That there is no better future than with you to grow old.
Endless caresses, touches and kisses;
Our passion a banner for our love’s true existence.
My hand I extend and my honor I offer;
For being with you my love, there is no greater pleasure.

Your hand I accept, and all your love as well;
My heart sings so loudly, all can tell
I am loved and in love with the man made for me
Hold my hand; let us walk through this life
Being what we were meant to be
Together.

The Way You Make Me Feel

You make me feel special,
You make me feel new,
You make me feel loved,
With everything you do.

You hold me close when I am sad.
You wipe the tears from my face.
Every time we are together,
It seems like the perfect place.

My eyes light up when you enter a room.
I smile when we are together.
No matter how bad things are,
You always make them better.

I love the way you kiss me,
The way you hold me tight.
I love the way you touch me,
I could be with you all night.

I love the way you can make me laugh
For absolutely no reason at all.
I love how no matter what I do,
You will be there to catch me when I fall.

I just want you to know,
That even though we sometimes fight,
I will always love you!
No matter what, day or night...

I'm sorry

I'm really very sorry...

I was wrong...

I hurt you...

I never wanted to do so...but the conditions were not easy!

I always wanted our friendship to be the legend.

I'm sorry, I made you cry.

I gave tears to your eyes.

I'm sorry...

and all that I can is please forgive me...

My Begining, and present

Part1
---You cant make some one love you or like you its very clear as it is.
At the age of 8 I met this young, free spirit little kid
during summer, I met him out of church and my brother, they became best friends because of that summer.
We just saw them one day at church and then bonded so quickly.
We spent long sunny days and pool days with him and his sister. Going to each others houses and playing our little games. I never really liked him, we were just summer buddies.I was just a little girl. and he was just a little boy.

Then, He never came back to church, summer ended and which in my opinion didn't really care that he left but to my brother it hurt him. I lived my childhood and forgot much about him, his name came up a couple times but not much.

Seven years later, I passed 7th grade and 6th grade came in.
April 6th, My brother invited a close friend and another one, and him.
seven years really did change him and me. I was blown away by his presents when he walked in the door, I didn't even recognize him. I blushed at his first smile to me.
That night was fascinating, I grew an attachment to him and he did to. Every little stare and touch meant so much, I screamed inside. Hes face was so gorgeous it would make you insecure to even stare back. We stayed up late and
built a little hut and laid on top of each other and all told stories. In that little hut our first innocent little kiss happened. I told people what happened and my brothers tried to get us together but he never said yes.
Another couple months passed and no scene or voice of his.
Then,Summer came and still he wouldn't speak to me.
finally he came over again,

sunny days,mall,lake days,late nights,another kiss,little confessions.
We became closer, jealousy came along at one point for both of us, and we finally were boyfriend and grilfriend, nothing could get any better.
Then, school started 8th grade, he ended it. He broke my heart and my feelings were still trapped inside i never had the chance to tell him I loved him, but every time the opportunity came something had to stop me. The little confessions were, "I care about you, I like you only, I think your the most beautiful thing ever."
Little things like that.
And I realized him and this girl that liked him became very close, and had feelings for each other.
I tried to just ignore it.
and finally i did, then I had feelings for someone else, I got a boyfriend.
Then when finally I forget about him and get closer to my boyfriend,
he shows up at the door.
I'm babysitting a little girl and one of the his closest friends invite him that night when i babysit his sister.
We have the whole house all alone for 7 hours.
I called my boyfriend to let him know nothing was going to happened. and told him I loved him for the first time.
He trusted me,
the night went by very long, with intimation, him grabbing me,stares, him coming to me and laying with me. I didnt know how to say get away, because i was telling him in my head, don't let go, don't move away.
We then ended up in Mattew's parents room,
we all laid together to put the little girl to sleep. my brother and Mattew went to the kitchen and left me alone with him. He leaned up and I did to we talked a little then, he whispered "I like you anna, Ive always had." He leaned in and kissed me passionately like he never did before,That kiss went a little to far and I almost lost my virginity. I kissed back and we made out for a long period of time instead.
Later that night we cuddled and held hands and he stared again in my eyes and I looked back at those big green eyes. He told me,"Your beautiful."
I kissed him this time and we made out again.
That excited, comfort, sweet, butterfly feeling went on and I felt it was never going to end.

Part2
At this point I was truly head over heals.
I couldn't stop thinking about him and that kiss.
We talked about that night and he told me he liked me and every word he said was true. Of course I loved it.
But I remembered He would probably leave me again and then months later something big would happen again.
I was right, But this time it was worse, he ignored me and pretended I didn't exists.
It hurt me and left me confused.
But then again he was immature and didn't know what the hell he was doing.
the guy that was my boyfriend,we broke up because he figured out I cheated. So i lost him to.
I still have feelings for him but i try to ignore them.
Before all this nonsense started he told me he didn't want to date until high school.
so Im just waiting for that someone so immature but that someone I love so much and care for. I cant make him love me but I know he cares but its just his age.

Real LYF

10th Grade:-
As I sat there in English class,
I stared at the girl next to me.
She was my so called 'best friend'.
I stared at her long, silky hair,
and wished she was mine.
But she didn't notice me like that,
and I knew it.
After class,
she walked up to me and asked me for
the notes she had missed the day before.
I handed them to her.She said 'thanks'
and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her, I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

11th grade:-
The phone rang. On the other end,
it was her. She was in tears,
mumbling on and on about how
her love had broke her heart.
She asked me to come over
because she didn't want to be alone, So I did.
As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her
soft eyes, wishing she was mine.
After 2 hours, one Drew Barrymore movie,
and three bags of chips,
she decided to go home.
She looked at me, said 'thanks'
and gave me a kiss
on the cheek..I want to tell her,
I want her to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Senior year:-
One fine day she walked to my locker.
'My date is sick' she said,
'hes not gonna go' well,
I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,
we made a promise that
if neither of us had dates,
we would go together just as 'best friends'.
So we did.
That night, after everything was over,
I was standing at her front door step.
I stared at her as She smiled at me
and stared at me with her crystal eyes.
Then she said- 'I had the best time, thanks!'
and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Graduation:-
A day passed, then a week, then a month.
Before I could blink, it was graduation day.
I watched as her perfect body
floated like an angel
up on stage to get her diploma.
I wanted her to be mine-but
she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it.
Before everyone went home,
she came to me in her smock and hat,
and cried as I hugged her.
Then she lifted her head from my shoulder
and said- 'you're my best friend,
thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Marriage:-
Now I sit in the pews of the church.
That girl is getting married now.
and drive off to her new life,
married to another man.
I wanted her to be mine,
but she didn't see me like that,
and I knew it.
But before she drove away,
she came to me and said 'you came !'.
She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Death:-
Years passed, I looked down at the coffin
of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.
At the service, they read a diary entry
she had wrote in her high school years.
This is what it read:
'I stare at him wishing he was mine,
but he doesn't notice me like that,
and I know it.
I want to tell him,
I want him to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love him but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
I wish he would tell me he loved me !
.........'I wish I did too...'
I thought to my self, and I cried.

I Love You Not

Boy: Baby, we need to talk.
Girl: Ricardo, what do u mean?
Boy: Something has come up...
Girl: What? What's wrong? Is it bad?
Boy: I don't want to hurt you, baby.
Girl: *Thinks* Oh my God, I hope he doesnt break up with me... I love him so much.
Boy: Baby, are you there??
Girl: Yeah, I'm here. What is so important??
Boy: I'm not sure if I should say it..
Girl: Well, you already brought it up, so please just tell me.
Boy: I'm leaving...
Girl: Baby, what are u talking about?? I don't want you to leave me, I love you.
Boy: Not like that, I mean I'm moving far away.
Girl: Why? All of your famliy lives over here.
Boy: Well, my father is sending me away to a boarding school far away.
Girl: I can't believe this.
[FATHER: (Picks up the other phone, interrupts & yells furiously
ERICA!, what did I tell you about talking to boys?!!!... Get off the
damn phone!! (And hangs up).]
Boy: Wow, your father sounds really mad.
Girl: You know how he gets, but anyways, I dont want you to go.
Boy: Would you run away with me?
Girl: Baby, you know I would, I would do anything for you, but I can't... You don't know what would happen if I did. My dad would kill me!
Boy: *Sad* It's okay.. I understand, I guess..
Girl: *Thinking*I can't believe what's going on.
Boy: I need to give you something tonite, because I am leaving on
flight 1-80 in the morning, so I need to see you now.
Girl: Okay, I will sneak out & meet you at the park.
Boy: Okay, I'll meet you there in 20 minutes.
[They meet at a nearby park, they both hug eachother. And he gives
her a note.]
Boy: Here you go, this is for you. I gotta go.
Girl: *Tear* (Begins to cry.)
Boy: Baby, dont cry, you know I love you... But I have to go.
Girl: Okay (Begins to walk away.)
[They both go back home. And Erica begins to read the letter he gave her]
It says...
"Erica,
You probably already know that I'm leaving, I knew this would be better if I wrote a letter explaining the truth about how much I care about you. The truth is, is that I never loved you, I hated you so much, you are my b**** and dont you ever forget that. I never cared about you, and never wanted to talk to you, and be around you. You really have no clue how much I hate you. Now that I'm leaving I thought you should know that I hate you, b****. You never did the
right thing, and you were never there. I didnt think I could hate someone as much as I hate you. And I never want to see you, for the rest of my life, I will never miss kissing you like before, I never want to cuddle up, how we used to. I will not miss you and that's a promise. You never had my love, and I want you to remember that. B****, you keep this letter because this may be the last thing you have from me. F***, I hate you so much. I will not talk to you soon bitch... Goodbye.
- Ricardo"
[ Erica begins to cry, she throws the paper in tha garbage & crys for hours ]
... A day passes, she is sad, depressed and she feels so lonely... Then she gets a phone call....
Friend: How are you feeling?
Girl: I just cant believe this happened.. I thought he loved me.
Friend: Oh, about that. Ricardo left me a message. A few days ago. He told me to tell you to look in your jacket pocket or something...
Girl: Umm.. okay.
[She finds a piece of paper in the jacket,
It says:
"Baby I hope you find this before you read my letter. I knew your dad might read it, so I switched a few words...
Hate = Love
Never = Always
B**** = Baby
Will not= will
.... I hope you didn't take that seriously because I love you with all my heart, and it was so hard to let you go thats why I wanted you to run away with me... -Ricardo"]
Girl: Oh my God! It's a letter.. Ricardo does love me!!, he must of slipped it into my pocket when he hugged me. I can't believe how stupid I am!!
Friend: lol Okay but I g2g... Call me later.
Girl: *happy*okay, bye, I'll be at home waiting for my baby to call me!
... Erica turns the T.V. on......
[Breaking news] "An airplane has crashed. Over 47 young boys died, we are still searching for survivors... This is a tragedy we will never forget, this plane was flight 1-80... it was on its way to an all boys boarding school..." the Reporter says.
[ She turns off the t.v. ... 3 days later, she kills herself, because of the fact that Ricardo was dead & she had nothing to live for... ]
... A day after that the phone rings. Nobody answers. It was Ricardo, he called to leave a message. "Its Ricardo, I guess you're not home so, I called to let you know that I'm alive, I missed my flight because I had to see you one last time. So, I hope your not worried. I am staying for good

Thinking Of You

Sophie's face faded into the gray winter light of the sitting room. She dozed in the armchair that Joe had bought for her on their fortieth anniversary. The room was warm and quiet. Outside it was snowing lightly.
At a quarter past one the mailman turned the corner onto Allen Street. He was behind on his route, not because of the snow, but because it was Valentine's Day and there was more mail than usual. He passed Sophie's house without looking up. Twenty minutes later he climbed back into his truck and drove off.
Sophie stirred when she heard the mail truck pull away, then took off her glasses and wipe her mouth and eyes with the handkerchief she always carried in her sleeve. She pushed herself up using the arm of the chair for support, straightened slowly and smoothed the lap of her dark green housedress.
Her slippers made a soft, shuffling sound on the bare floor as she walked to the kitchen. She stopped at the sink to wah the two dishes she had left on the counter after lunch. Then she filled a plastic cup halfway with water and took her pills. It was one forty-five.
There was a rocker in the sitting room by the front window. Sophie eased herself into it. In a half-hour the children would be passing by on their way home from school. Sophie waited, rocking and watching the snow.
The boys came first, as always, runnng and calling out things Sophie could not hear. Today they were making snowball as they went, throwing them at one another. One snowball missed and smackd hard into Sophie's window. She jerked backward, and the rocker slipped off the edge of her oval rag rug.
The girl dilly-dallied after the boys, in twos and threes, cupping their mittened hands over their mouths and giggling. Sophie wonder if they were telling each other about the valentines they had received at school. One pretty girl with long brown hair stopped and pointed to her face behind the drapes, suddenly self-consious. When she looked out again, the boys and girls were gone. It was cold by the window, but she stayed there watching the snow conver the children's footprints
A florist's truck turned onto Allen Street. Sophie followed it with her eyes. It was moving slowly. Twice it stopped and started again. Then the driver pulled up in front of Mrs. Mason's house next door and parked.Who would be sending Mrs. Mason flowers? Sophie wondered. Her daughter in Wisconsin? Or her brother? No, her brother was very ill. It was probably her daughter. How nice of her.
Flowers made Sophie think of Joe and, for a moment, she let the aching memory fill her. Tomorrow was the fifteenth. Eight months since his death.
The flower mans was knocking at Mrs. Mason's front door. He carried a long white and green box and a clipboard. No one seemed to be answering. Of course! It was Friday - Mrs. Mason quilted at the church on Friday afternoons. the delivery man looked around, then started toward Sophie's house.
Sophie shoved herself out of the rocker and stood close to the drapes. The man knocked. Her hands trembled as she straightened her hair. She reached her front hall on the third knock.
"Yes?" she said, peering around a slightly opened door. "Good afternoon, ma'am," the man said loudly. "Would you take a delivery for your neighbor?"
"Yes," Sophie answered, pulling the door wide open. "Where would you like me to put them?" the man asked politely as he strode in.
"In the kitchen, please. On the table." The man looked big to Sophie. She could hardly see his face between his green cap and full beard. Sophie was glad he left quickly, and she locked the door after him.
The box was as long as the kitchen table. Sophie drew near to it and bent over to read the lettering: "NATALIE'S Flowers for Every Occasion." The rich smell of roses engulfed her. She closed her eyes and took slower breaths, imagining yellow roses. Joe had always chosen yellow. "To my sunshine," he would say, presenting the extravagant bouquet. He would laugh delightedly, kiss her on the forehead, then take her hands in his and sing to her "You Are My Sunshine."
It's was five o'clock when Mrs. Mason knocked at Sophie's front door. Sophie was still at the kitchen table. The flower box was now open though, and she held the roses on her lap, swaying slightly and stroking the delicate yellow petals. Mrs. Mason knocked again, but Sophie did not hear her, and after several minutes the neighbour left.
Sophie rose a little while later, laying the flowers on the kitchen table. Her cheeks were flushed. She dragged a stepstool across the kitchen floor and lifted a white porcelain vase from the top corner cabinet. Using a drinking glass, she filled the vase with water, then tenderly arranged the roses and greens, and carried them into the sitting room.
She was smiling as she reached the middle of the room. She turned slightly and began to dip and twirl in small slow circles. She stepped lightly, gracefully, around the sitting room, into the kitchen, down the hall, back again. She danced till her knees grew weak, and then she dropped into the armchair and slept.
At a quarter past six, Sophie awoke with a start. Someone was knocking on the back door this time. It was Mrs. Mason.
"Hello, Sophie," Mrs. Mason said. "How are you? I knocked at five and was a little worried when you didn't come. Were you napping?" She chattered as she wiped her snowy boots on the welcome mat and stepped inside. "I just hate snow, don't you? The radio says we might have six inches by midnight, but you can never trust them, you know. Do you remember last winter when they predicted four inches, and we hand twenty-one? Twenty-one! And they said we'd have a mild winter this year. Ha! I don't think it's been over zero in weeks. Do you know my oil bill was $263 last month? For my little house!"
Sophie was only half-listening. She had remembered the roses suddenly and was turning hot with shame. The empty flower box was behind her on the kitchen table. What would she say to Mrs. Mason?
"I don't know how much longer I can keep paying the bills. If only Alfred, God bless him, had been as careful with money as your Joseph. Joseph! Oh, good heavens! I almost forgot about the roses."
Sophie's cheeks burned. She began to stammer an apology, stepping aside to reveal the empty box.
"Oh, good," Mrs. Mason interrupted. "You put the roses in water. Then you saw the card. I hope it didn't startle your to see Joseph's handwriting. Joseph had asked me to bring you the roses the first year, so I could explain for him. He didn't want to alarm you. His 'Rose Trust,' I think he called it. He arranged it with the florist last Apirl. Such a good man, your Joseph..."
But Sophie had stopped listening. Her heart was pounding as she picked up the small white envelope she had missed earlier. It had been lying beside the flower box all this time. With trembling hands, she removed the card.
"To my sunshine," it said. "I love you with all my heart. Try to be happy when you think of me. Love, Joe."

Story of Regret

There was this guy who believed very much in true love and decided to take his time to wait for his right girl to appear. He believed that there would definitely be someone special out there for him, but none came.
Every year at Christmas, his ex-girlfriend would return from Vancouver to look him up. He was aware that she still held some hope of re-kindling the past romance with him. He did not wish to mislead her in any way. So he would always get one of his girl friends to pose as his steady whenever she came back. That went on for several years and each year, the guy would get a different girl to pose as his romantic interest. So whenever the ex-girlfriend came to visit him, she would be led into believing that it was all over between her and the guy. The girl took all those rather well, often trying to casually tease him about his different girlfriends, or so, as it seemed! In fact, the girl often wept in secret whenever she saw him with another girl, but she was too proud to admit it. Still, every Christmas, she returned, hoping to re-kindle some form of romance. But each time, she returned to Vancouver feeling disappointed.
Finally she decided that she could not play that game any longer. Therefore, she confronted him and professed that after all those years, he was still the only man that she had ever loved. Although the guy knew of her feelings for him, he was still taken back and have never expected her to react that way. He always thought that she would slowly forget about him over time and come to terms that it was all over between them. Although he was touched by her undying love for him and wanted so much to accept her again, he remembered why he rejected her in the first place-she was not the one he wanted. So he hardened his heart and turned her down cruelly. Since then, three years have passed and the girl never return anymore. They never even wrote to each other. The guy went on with his life..... still searching for the one but somehow deep inside him, he missed the girl.
On the Christmas of 1995, he went to his friend's party alone. "Hey, how come all alone this year? Where are all your girlfriends? What happened to that Vancouver babe who joins you every Christmas?", asked one of his friend. He felt warm and comforted by his friend's queries about her, still he just surged on.
Then, he came upon one of his many girlfriends whom he once requested to pose as his steady. He wanted so much to ignore her ..... not that he was impolite, but because at that moment, he just didn't feel comfortable with those girlfriends anymore. It was almost like he was being judged by them. The girl saw him and shouted across the floor for him. Unable to avoid her, he went up to acknowledge her.
"Hi......how are you? Enjoying the party?" the girl asked.
"Sure.....yeah!", he replied.
She was slightly tipsy..... must be from the whiskey on her hand. She continued,
"Why...? Don't you need someone to pose as your girlfriend this year?" Then he answered, "No, there is no need for that anymore......"
Before he can continue, he was interrupted, "Oh yes! Must have found a girlfriend! You haven't been searching for one for the past years, right?" The man looked up, as if he has struck gold, his face beamed and looked directly at the drunken girl. He replied, "Yes......you are right! I haven't been looking for anyone for the past years."
With that, the man darted across the floor and out the door, leaving the lady in much bewilderment. He finally realized that he has already found his dream girl, and she was.....the Vancouver girl all along! The drunken lady has said something that awoken him.
All along he has found his girl. That was why he did not bother to look further when he realized she was not coming back. It was not any specific girl he was seeking! It was perfection that he wanted, and yes.....perfection!!
Relationship is something both parties should work on. Realizing that he had let away someone so important in his life, he decided to call her immediately. His whole mind was flooded with fear. He was afraid that she might have found someone new or no longer had the same feelings anymore..... For once, he felt the fear of losing someone.
As it was Christmas eve, the line was quite hard to get through, especially an overseas call. He tried again and again, never giving up. Finally, he got through......precisely at 1200 midnight. He confessed his love for her and the girl was moved to tears. It seemed that she never got over him! Even after so long, she was still waiting for him, never giving up.
He was so excited to meet her and to begin his new chapter of their lives. He decided to fly to Vancouver to join her. It was the happiest time of their lives! But their happy time was short-lived. Two days before he was supposed to fly to Vancouver, he received a call from her father. She had a head-on car collision with a drunken driver. She passed away after 6 hours in a coma.
The guy was devastated, as it was a complete loss. Why did fate played such cruel games with him? He cursed the heaven for taking her away from him, denying even one last look at her! How cruel he cursed! How he damned the Gods...!! How he hated himself....for taking so long to realize his mistake!! That was in 1996.
The moral of this story is :
Treasure what you have...
Time is too slow for those who wait;
Too swift for those who fear;
Too long for those who grief;
Too short for those who rejoice;
But for those who love...
Time is Eternity.
For all you out there with someone special in your heart, cherish that person, cherish every moment that you spend together that special someone, for in life, anything can happen anytime. You may painfully regret, only to realise that it is too late.

Some Lovely Quotes

True love is not how you forgive, but how you forget, not what you see but what you feel, not how you listen but how you understand, and not how you let go but how you hold on....

True love is not about the hugs and kisses, the 'I love you's' or the 'I miss you's', but about the chills that hit every part of your spine when you think about him...

An Entrapment

My love, I have tried with all my being
to grasp a form comparable to thine own,
but nothing seems worthy;

I know now why Shakespeare could not
compare his love to a summer’s day.
It would be a crime to denounce the beauty
of such a creature as thee,
to simply cast away the precision
God had placed in forging you.

Each facet of your being
whether it physical or spiritual
is an ensnarement
from which there is no release.
But I do not wish release.
I wish to stay entrapped forever.
With you for all eternity.
Our hearts, always as one.

A Special World

A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.

Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.

And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.

A WaY Of LoVE

There was once this guy who is very much in love with his girl. This
romantic guy folded 1,000 pieces of paper-cranes as a gift to his girl.
Although, at that time he was just a small fry in his company, his future
doesn't seemed too bright, they were very happy together. Until one day,
his girl told him she was going to Paris and will never come back.
She also told him that she couldn't visualize any future for the both of
them, so let's go their own ways there and then ...Heartbroken, the guy
agreed. But when he regains his confidence, he worked hard day and night,
slogging his body and mind just to make something out of him.

Finally with all these hard work and the help of friends, this guy had set
up his own company. You never fail until you stop trying one rainy day,
while this guy was driving; he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella
the rain walking to some destination.
Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didn't take him
long to realize those were his girl's parents. With a heart in getting back
at them, he droved slowly beside the couple, wanting them to
spot him in his luxury sedan.
He wanted them to know that he wasn't the same anymore; he had his own
company, car, comfort etc. He made it! Before the guy can realize, the
couple was walking towards a cemetery, and he got out of his car and
followed.... and he saw his girl, a photograph of her smiling sweetly as
ever at him from her tombstone... and he saw his paper cranes beside her.
Find time to realize that there is one person who means so much to you,
for you might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant
nothing to you Her parents saw him. He asks them why had this happened.
They explained, she did not leave for France at all. She was ill with
cancer.
She had believed that he will make it someday, but she did not want to be
his obstacle ..... therefore she had choose to leave him ...
Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't
mean they don't love you with all they have She had wanted her parents to
put his paper cranes beside her, because, if the day comes when fate brings
him to her again he can take some of those back with him ...
Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may
escape but what's in your heart will remain forever
The guy just wept ..... The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting
right
beside them knowing you can't have them

A Beautiful Heart Touching Love Story

There was once a guy who suffered from cancer... a cancer that can't be treated. He was 18 years old and he could die anytime. All his life, he was stuck in his house being taken cared by his mother. He never went outside but he was sick of staying home and wanted to go out for once.

So he asked his mother and she gave him permission. He walked down his block and found a lot of stores.

He passed a CD store and looked through the front door for a second as he walked. He stopped and went back to look into the store. He saw a young girl about his age and he knew it was love at first sight. He opened the door and walked in, not looking at anything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.

She looked up and asked "Can I help you?" She smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seen before and wanted to kiss her right there.

He said "Uh... Yeah... Umm... I would like to buy a CD." He picked one out and gave her money for it.

"Would you like me to wrap it for you?" she asked, smiling her cute smile again.

He nodded and she went to the back.

She came back with the wrapped CD and gave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store. He went home and from then on, he went to that store everyday and bought a CD, and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. He was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn't. His mother found out about this and told him to just ask her.

So the next day, he took all his courage and went to the store. He bought a CD like he did everyday and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn't looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out...

!!!RRRRRING! !!
The mother picked up the phone and said, "Hello?"

It was the girl!!! She asked for the boy and the mother started to cry and said, "You don't know? He passed away yesterday... "

The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy's mother.

Later in the day. the mother went into the boy's room because she wanted to remember him. She thought she would start by looking at his clothes. So she opened the closet. She was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. She was surprised to find all those CDs and she picked one up and sat down on the bed and she started to open one.

Inside, there was a CD and as she took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and started to read it.
It said: Hi... I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jacelyn The mother opened another CD...

Again there was a piece of paper. It said: Hi... I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jacelyn

Love is... when you've had a huge fight but then decide to put aside your egos, hold hands and say, "I Love You . . . "
